Birds - American Kestrel
Class:Aves Order:Falconiformes Family:Falconidae


American Kestrel, Falco sparverius. These raptors are small, fierce hunters found in North America. The males have bright coloring, with blue and reddish brown feathers. Females are more tan with some reddish brown. Both females and males have black markings on their faces. These falcons were photographed in the Shawnee Mission Park area, Fleming Park in Lee's Summit and at a vacant lot in Leawood, KS.
