Autmn Yellow-winged Grasshopper, Arphia xanthoptera is found in fields and prairies of the Eastern and Central United States, and is one of the larger of its genus. This hopper feeds on grasses and as it flies you can see its yellow legs. These grasshoppers make a sort of ratchet sound, similar to wrens, when they jump.
