Insects/Bugs/Bees/Butterflies - Stink Bug/Shield Bug
Class:Insecta Order:Hemiptera Family:Pentatomidae

Shield Bug, Many genera and species. Pentatomidae literally means Five (5) Sections, which you can cleary see on this stink bug's body. They are called 'stink bugs' because their scent glands can produce odors that we humans can smell. Shield Bugs are Agricultural Pests (in large numbers, they can damage crops) and have evolved to resist most pesticides, making them a farming challenge. In Laos, they are eaten by humans. There are loads of these bugs in the Pentatomoidea superfamily so I have lumped them together here. If I am able to identify a specific genus I will give them their own page.

All species pages are currently being updated with more useful descriptions and information.
